On September 9th the 4th Annual Colbea Cup Golf Tournament (the David Main Memorial Golf Tournament), was held at Valley Country Club in Warwick, RI. This tournament plays a major role in supporting the David Main Family.
As many of you may be aware, four years ago, on September 20, 2010, our employee David Main lost his life tragically while making a routine bank deposit. His family and friends struggle daily with this horrifying experience. David’s wish was to see his son attend college, and the Michael D. Main Scholarship Fund was established to help accomplish this dream.
During the last 3 years we raised enough money to support David’s son, Michael, through college. He is in his final year of college and will graduate in May. We will continue to pay tribute to David with this tournament each year, while keeping his memory alive.
A portion of this year’s proceeds will support the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Center as well as the Main Family supported charities. David’s wife Cathy is donating her portion to Lincoln High School Music Department, in memory of her husband, because of her son’s passion for music; David’s parents are donating their portion to Operation Stand Down, in memory of their son, which helps support Homeless Veterans.
The Main family has attended each tournament and is overwhelmed with the outpouring of kindness from everyone. David Main’s parents, wife, and his sisters could not be more appreciative for all the time and hard work that goes into the tournament. Combined, over the last 3 years we were able to raise over $200,000.00 for the Michael Main Scholarship Fund, along with creating some wonderful memories.
